Background, Experience and Vision:

J Taylor Productions is owned and operated by John Taylor, born and raised in the Bay Area.

John was attracted to photography at a very young age and got his first 35mm camera at the age of 13. Introduced to Apple computers in the mid-90's led him to pursue a MultiMedia Degree in Computer Graphics and Design, which included studies in video and non-linear editing. He then moved to the Lake Tahoe area and immersed himself in the extreme sport world where he did photography for professional snowboarding and other sports. Some of his photos can be found in Snowboarder and Transworld Snowboarding magazines. In 2002 he started Times Four Productions, focusing on the new extreme sport of rockcrawling, where he filmed, edited, and produced 5 mainsteam movies, including the industry leading series, Haulin' or Crawlin' 2, 3 & 4. Haulin' or Crawlin' 2 & 4 received The Impact Xtremey Award for Best Offroad/Rock Crawling Video of 2006 and 2008 respectively.

After having a daughter and moving out of the Lake Tahoe area, John had the opportunity to shoot a couple of weddings and found a new focus and challenge in photo and video. Living away from Lake Tahoe, where proximity was necessary to keep devoted to extreme sports, he changed his focus, and changed his company name to J Taylor Productions and dedicated his expertise to weddings. "Shooting extreme sports takes quick reflexes and concentration, everything is fast moving and there are no second takes. This has more than prepared me for weddings, where everything is live and you just can't miss anything. That's probably what I like most, the pressure of getting it right. I also really love the vibe and joy of weddings, and it allows me to pursue the finer art of film making." says John.

J Taylor productions can provide a very valuable memory of your wedding day. We understand the privilege of being a part of two people joining together, and respect the memories we will create for many years to come. Unobtrusive and accomodating is part of that respect. Carefully guiding the experience while not forcing control is part of our documentation of the day. We also recognize the unique situation every couple presents, and are willing to work closely with you to capture what means most, and translate that vision into a professionally made treasure.
